“TIRANGA”- THE NATIONAL FLAG –

New Delhi, January 29, 2003: India’s most legendary artists will come together at the 21st century’s most historic event, "TIRANGA" - a celebration of the National Flag through breathtaking poetry, music and painting, on 31st January 2003, at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi.
The preview to the novel event was given today at a press briefing in New Delhi, by renowned poet, Mr. Javed Akhtar, Mr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero Honda, and Ms. Durga Jasraj, daughter of great classical maestro, Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj, who has also conceptualized the entire event.
The event has been conceived with a sincere effort to generate a true sense of patriotism, and to spread the true meaning and essence of India’s National Flag to the future generations of the country.
The Honourable President of India, Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam will be the chief guest at the event.
The event, scheduled for 31st January 2003, at 6:30 p.m., will begin with going back to 1906, from when the flag evolved to become the “TIRANGA”, followed by performances by legendry Indian classical maestros and India’s “Desh Ki Dhadkans”- Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Zakir Hussain, U. Shrinivas, Javed Akhtar, and M. F. Hussein - on the four elements of the National Flag, each reflecting unique energy: Saffron - Light; White- Peace; Green - Growth; Ashoka Chakra - Speed.
Honored on participating in this prestigious event, Mr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero Honda, said, “India has a glorious past, and a very promising future. But the journey involves many challenges. It is essential that India’s youth, and the future generations, comprehends the true values, and absorbs energy, from the nation’s traditions and symbols. India is blessed with immense talent and energy, requiring the right direction."

HERO HONDA’S DARUHERA PLANT ROLLS OUT ITS
5 MILLIONTH MOTORCYCLE |

New Delhi , May 01, 2003: Hero Honda, the 'World No. 1' two-wheeler company, today achieved another milestone with its Daruhera plant, in Haryana, becoming the first Indian two-wheeler plant to produce 5 million units. The 5 millionth motorcycle was a Splendor. The first motorcycle, CD100, had rolled off the assembly line on April 13, 1985.
Today, the plant rolls out 3000 motorcycles a day. Besides the original CD100 model, the plant produces other leading Hero Honda brands, namely CD100SS, Dawn, Splendor, and the latest model CD-Dawn.
Together with Gurgaon plant, Hero Honda's cumulative production as of today, crossed 7.5 million motorcycles.
The Daruhera plant has also been accorded globally approved and accepted certifications in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environment Management Systems (ISO 14001) and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001).
On achieving this landmark, Mr. Pawan Munjal, Managing Director & CEO, Hero Honda Motors Limited, said, "I feel especially proud that 5 million of the motorcycles on the country's roads have been produced in Daruhera plant. Daruhera plant produced the country's first and the most fuel efficient and environment friendly motorcycle, which completely revolutionized the two-wheeler transportation in the country, and set the pace for tremendous growth of two-wheeler industry in India , which is today the second largest in the world."
Also addressing workers today, on the occasion of May Day, Mr. Munjal said that Hero Honda would create new global standards which would appeal to and attract international quality conscious customers.

Launches A ‘Value-Enhanced’ Passion Plus |

New Delhi, September ___, 2003: Hero Honda Motors Ltd., the 'World No.1' two-wheeler company, today announced the launch of Passion Plus , a value-added variant of its stylish model Passion, one of the country's leading two wheeler brands. The launch of Passion Plus is a step towards fortifying the company's unmatched leadership in the executive segment and its overall leadership in the Indian two-wheeler market.
Passion Plus has been launched following an intensive nationwide customer research conducted by the company this year. The launch of the variant reiterates Hero Honda's commitment towards its customers to offer enhanced value through attractive and latest additions.
Mr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero Honda Motors Ltd., enthused on the launch of Passion Plus , said, "Hero Honda has always believed in the 'power of customer', and the launch of Passion Plus is a testimony of the same credo. We have been assimilating customer feedback on all our models, across the country, and based on that we decided to make changes in Passion. Passion Plus would replace Passion recognized as the model with the highest first year sales in the Indian two-wheeler market.
Passion Plus offers customers a redefined modern styling. It will be available with a two-tone petrol tank and two-tone front fender, never witnessed in the Indian two-wheeler industry. The body coloured rear view mirror, aluminium die-cast rear grip, new instrument panel dial design and new crank case-cover colour offer improved aesthetics.
The variant would also include a halogen lamp headlight, multi-reflector winkers and heat protector on muffler.
Priced at Rs. 41,885/- (ex-showroom-Delhi), Passion Plus will also be available with a disc brake option. The new bike will be available in new attractive stripes and colours such as Candy Blazing Red, Cloud Silver Me, Tornado Grey, Moon Yellow, Candy Amaranth Maroon, Pearl Turquoise Blue, Candy Tahitian Blue and Tasmania Green Me.

TERI ANNOUNCES THE RESULTS OF THE GREEN OLYMPIAD ENVIRONMENTAL EXAMINATION
Examination witnesses 35, 000 school students from across the globe
battling it out for participation in TERRAQUIZ 2003

New Delhi , ___October 2003: GREEN Olympiad 2003, an annual environment examination for school children conducted by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) in association with Hero Honda Motors Ltd. and the Ministry of Environment & Forests was held for the third consecutive year on the 13 th of September 2003. Hero Honda the world's largest two-wheeler company has been consistently encouraging this endeavour, which is highly relevant in today's times.
This annual environment examination for school children, witnessed an overwhelming response of over 35,000 students from various schools across India and abroad.
The theme for this year's GREEN Olympiad 2003 was "Water" , aligning with the United Nations theme of the year. The exam was structured with innovative concepts that were designed not only to test the knowledge of students but also to educate and sensitize them in the process. Further, it was an attempt to develop their thought process and to enable them to critically analyze environmental issues and to able to think of solutions. Hero Honda's invaluable support has seen this initiative grow further and become a grand success.
This two hour environmental exam tested the children on a wide variety of subjects beginning from wildlife to renewable sources of energy, biotechnology, health, climate change and many others.
Meritorious students in this green test were awarded scholarships by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. Furthermore, outstanding performers from the best 32 schools would participate in TERRAQUIZ 2003, India 's first and one of its kind environmental quiz on television, which will be telecast by Doordarshan. The winners of this quiz will be crowned as the Hero Honda Environment Ambassadors for the year. These ambassadors will broaden and deepen environmental awareness among fellow students and help create an ambience where these issues can be correctly addressed and understood.
Since its inception in 1999, the GREEN Olympiad examination has consistently recorded an increase in participation from all parts of the country and abroad. Participation ranges from some of the remotest corners of India like Port Blair in the southeast; Bhuj in the west and Itanagar in the east. Encouraged by the huge response in India , Green Olympiad decided to go global in year 2000, facilitating participation from children representing West Asia, Russia and Nepal . |

The company today announced the launch of Splendor+ , closely following the launch of Passion Plus last month. The new variant would further consolidate Hero Honda's leadership in the executive segment.
Splendor+ is a value-added extension of Hero Honda Splendor, the largest selling motorcycle in the world. Like Passion Plus, Splendor+ has also been launched on the basis of an extensive market survey conducted by the company, to gauge the changing requirements of customers. The launch of the new variant reaffirms Hero Honda's commitment towards its customers.
Splendor+, which would co-exist with Splendor, is targeted at an emerging category within the executive segment, looking for contemporary looks with established brand values.
While announcing the launch of Splendor+ Mr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero Honda Motors Ltd., said, "With the launch of Splendor+, we have endeavored to offer enhanced value to our esteemed customers, who have so far shown utmost faith in Splendor making it the largest selling single two wheeler model, globally, for three successive years.
Mr. Pawan Munjal, Managing Director, Hero Honda Motors Ltd, was enthused at the launch. He explained, "Splendor+ is our second launch this year in the executive segment and the fourth in all. Splendor is credited as the most successful two-wheeler brand in the world. It recently also established a record in the Indian two wheeler industry, by becoming the first two wheeler brand to sell over 1 lakh units in a single month.
Splendor+ offers enhanced features to the customers. It comes with a new multi-reflector headlight with halogen lamp, multi-reflector tail-light as well as multi-reflector winkers. The instrument panel dial design and the rear view mirror design have been renewed to give the bike a more contemporary look. The model comes with helmet lock as a standard fitment.
Splendor+ is also available with a disc brake as an option. Splendor+ comes in 10 colours & stripe combinations, the various body colours being - High Granite Blue, Blaze Blue, Tornado Grey, Candy Tahitian Blue, Chilly Green, Cloud Silver , High Performance Red and Black.
The Splendor+ (Drum version) is attractively priced at Rs. 40580/- (ex-showroom-Delhi)-just Rs 500/- more than Splendor. It would be available through a wide network of over 1500 sales and service points, spread across the length and breadth of the country.
